Fly, Brave Pigeons // May Update
Hey all, here’s a May update for those trying to stay current with what’s been happening at the club. In short, there’s a fancy new table, new events, new artwork, and a fresh membership option, too!
New Studio Table
At the end of April we had our final, gorgeous table delivered to the space by BJ from Understory Woodworking. As with all of our tables, he helped us envision it from the ground up. Top priorities were to fit the design language of those on our main floor and be an awesome table to film battle reports on, all while making sure it still remained versatile enough to be used for meetings and a variety of games other than 40k.
With the table in place, we’re looking ahead to tricking the studio room out for audio and video recording. See it in action over on One Last Blade!
US Open + Club Jerseys
Seattle’s first US Open kicked off in early May, reportedly the most well-attended event ever organized by Games Workshop in the USA. A big group of folks from the Waystone community enjoyed competing in the tournaments, pickup games, and hobby classes.
Robert and his Troupe Kill Team won Best Painted and took 5th place in the Kill Team Grand Tournament. Alex took 3rd best in faction as Orks in the 40k Grand Tournament. And Gabe finished 19th overall with his Harlequins (out of 206).
Many folks from the club were sporting flashy new jerseys and enrolled under Waystone’s team, the Rain City Wych Pigeons. These jerseys were designed with club input in mind, from the naming of the team, coloring, and the mountain and geometric patterns. We even commissioned the logo from Beware1984 Design, originator of the infamous Rain City Bitch Pigeons logo.
Crusade Campaign and Pod League Kick Off
In the wake of the Open, the club is bustling with some new member-driven events, including Waystone’s Pod League, which uses a seasonal matchmaking system to help players learn and grow with tournament play in mind. Also, the club’s first Crusade campaign has kicked off with a remote meeting of all the participants to talk through what everyone would like from a narrative-focused campaign. We’re eagerly awaiting some exciting narrative battle-reports in the club’s Discord.

Wall of Heroes + New Artwork by Uyen Tran Gjerde
In April we mounted our first five entries to Waystone’s Wall of Heroes—portraits of Kickstarter supporters’ custom models immortalized on the wall near the bar.
We’re also very excited to have new artwork above one of our tables by local artist Uyen Tran Gjerde. When we saw this piece, we knew we knew it was perfect for the space. Uyen recently finished a show in downtown Seattle and is active with updates on in-progress and finished pieces on Instagram. Go check out her work!
New Household Membership Option
In continuing to refine our club’s membership model in order to keep it both sustainable and accessible, we unveiled a new Household Membership option. This is an option for one person who shares a household with a current member to enroll as a full member themselves for only 25 dollars a month–including unlimited table reservations, discounts on drinks and Games Workshop products, and other member perks. More info on our Membership page.
We’re excited to keep the momentum going with a refreshed drink menu, beginner’s events, and more this summer. Stay tuned!
Best,
Dustin
