Documentary Short // Waystone: A Way into Warhammer

Hey all,

A while back, we asked folks in the community to come and participate in interviews being conducted by some students from Ballard High School who were filming a documentary about Waystone.

A ton of you showed up to help out, answer questions, and film b-roll, and the film’s creators Gabi and Alex narrowed it all down to about a 6-minute video. Grad students from the Seattle Film Institute then composed a score for it, and it has taken an award at a local high school film festival, as well as been invited to another festival in New York.

To me, what's most special about this video is that even though we gave very little input other than "we trust you", they were able to tell a story about what makes the space special. They had to come in at odd hours to film--usually very late at night, since they aren't allowed in when we're open--and did the work of an entire film team by setting up all the lighting, preparing all the interview questions, filming it themselves, and doing all the editing.

Hope y'all enjoy and share. And a very big thank you to everyone who came to help with filming, even if you didn’t make it into the final cut.
