Norms & Guidelines

Safety and Security

  • Alcohol consumption is not permitted in the Annex.

Them’s just the breaks. It’s not covered by our commercial liability insurance. Consuming alcohol without the presence and express permission of staff will result in a permanent loss of access.

  • Anyone other than members and their guests must check in with staff.

No one should let unknown visitors in off the street, no matter how cute their puppy is, how much they claim to enjoy “Dungeons & Dragons,” or how desperately they need to use the bathroom. Direct them next door with a hand gesture so that they can check in with staff. We’ll be happy to show them around!

  • The office and the storage areas are staff-only spaces.

Our social security numbers, tax information, and the booze vault are off limits. Please do not enter these areas unless invited by staff.

Respect for Shared Space

  • Be mindful of others.

Everyone is here to have fun. Please consider how noise, personal space, music selection, scents, and more contribute to the overall atmosphere. It’s always okay to check in with other folks, and to leave your favorite noisecore ska-jazz vinyls and banana hammocks at home.

  • Leave the space clean.

This is our sacred temple to dice rolling—leave it as clean and tidy as possible. Gingerly put away your terrain (unless you know the following reservation would like to use it), organize and repackage shared game cards, and stack objective markers and other aids neatly on the table cart.

Finally, an adorable baby animal dies every time super glue touches one of our tables. Be extremely mindful of paint, glue, knives, drinks, etc., and in the event of a spill, immediately clean up and notify @Servo-Skull or staff on duty so that we can do a deep clean later.

  • Drinks & snacks use an honor system.

You are welcome to bring your own food and (non-alcoholic) drinks. Furthermore, our staff lovingly hand-pick the freshest peanut m&m’s and other delicious snacks for your convenience. We can only offer these if members and their guests pay for them. If you or your guests disagree with pricing, or can’t afford it, please don’t consume them.

Guests & Reservations

  • Members are responsible for their guests.

You are welcome to invite guests to join you, but please give them an informative introduction to the space and be sure they understand all our current guidelines and rules.

  • Reservations are required.

Regardless of your ability to access the space, you still need to make a reservation to use a game table. This helps avoid booking conflicts and preserves the calm nature of the space.

  • Reservations are non-transferable.

Neither your reservations nor your access credentials should ever be transferred to any other person, regardless of membership status. This includes booking a second table for someone else while you are present to play on a different table. If you’d like someone else to take your table, encourage them to make their own booking after you have canceled yours.

Permitted:

  • Trish is booking a table for a Warhammer 40,000 Narrative game with a friend. Another friend hears about the game, and she invites them to join or observe.

  • Trish has a reservation for a Battletech game with another member, and lets her wife in to hang out in the common area during the game.

  • Trish uses her access credentials to stop by and grab some items from her locker, then is invited by someone else with a reservation to hang out and/or join their game.

  • Trish is walking by with a few family members on a weekday morning, and wants to show them the Annex. She uses her access credentials to let them in, show them around, and use the bathroom before heading out to grab food.

Not Permitted:

  • Cindy books a table for a Kill Team game outside of normal business hours. Their friend (who is a member) asks if Cindy can let him in to play at the same time, so Cindy books him a spot to play at a different table.

  • Cindy books a table for Age of Sigmar, and invites their friend to play. As the reservation approaches, Cindy comes down with a cold, and feels bad about canceling on him. Cindy gives him their phone and tells him to let himself in and invite someone else to play.

  • Cindy doesn’t have a reservation, but hears that a friend needs a quiet place to get some work done throughout the week. Cindy uses their 24-Hour Access to let him in so that he can spend a few hours enjoying the free WiFi and coffee.

  • Cindy is preparing a table for their upcoming game, and notices a curious passerby peeking in the window. Cindy invites them in for a tour of the space.
